It's important to take good care of your guitar, this ensures that it keeps playing and sounding like new or even better. If you have the basics down like storing your guitar in consistent temperature and humidity (preferably in a bag or case) then it's time to look at cleaning it. When using cleaning products on your guitar it is vital that you figure out what products suit your guitar. A high-gloss finish can be cleaned with polish where a satin finish should only be cleaned with a cleaner. Same goes for the neck, an Ebony or Rosewood fretboard can be cleaned and conditioned with something like a lemon oil while a Maple fretboard should only be cleaned with a clean microfibre cloth maybe with a little bit of polish.
