Khaya, also known as African mahogany, is used as the solid top and the back and sides of this guitar. Khaya was chosen for its singular sound characteristics; smooth, felted bass, a very present mid-range, and delicate treble. Consequently, the three versions of the T98 (dreadnought, auditorium and parlor formats) deliver a warm, deep sound that blues lovers and roots music will enjoy, whatever their playing style: picking, rhythm or solo.
SOLID MAHOGANY TOP
Mahogany is usually used for the back and sides of acoustic guitars, yet it's also a very good tonewood to create the top of a guitar out of. It’s warm and mellow, providing excellent low frequencies, pronounced lower-mids and unpronounced, yet appealing, high ends. The result is a balanced tone with crisp and strong fundamentals.
MAHOGANY BACK & SIDES
The beloved mahogany wood has been a standard for back and sides on premium acoustics for many decades. The warm and well rounded low-end creates a basis for all music to reach it's audience. The mid-range is very strong and fullbodied, while the high-end is delicate and very pleasant.
GRAPHITE NUT & SADDLE
Bridge nuts & saddels made from graphite are denser then their counterparts made from plastic. Graphite nuts & saddles give a brighter and overall more well balanced tone. Graphite nuts & saddles have self lubricating properties which prevent tuning and intonation issues that may occur using other materials.
