Subtlety and richness, this R2M Orchestra Model uses a Solid Mahogany top for tonal warmth, and Mahogany for the back and sides. The beautiful Mahogany wood responds with warmth and body for a rich sound which articulates very well.

Due to the environment in which it was initially designed to be used, the 'OM' was not a large-bodied guitar. In fact, few of the early 'modern' guitars would be considered large today. So, the 'OM-sized' Rathbone No.2 is not a large bodied guitar either, but the neck joins the body at the 14th fret, so the scale length is one that we would recognise from most modern guitars. When first used, this 'long' scale legnth was found to help deliver a remarkably, and some may say disproportionately, powerful and dynamic tone. The tuned strings are under greater tension than on shorter scale guitars, so they give a far greater tonal response and 'punch'.

SOLID MAHOGANY TOP

Mahogany is usually used for the back and sides of acoustic guitars, yet it's also a very good tonewood to create the top of a guitar out of. It’s warm and mellow, providing excellent low frequencies, pronounced lower-mids and unpronounced, yet appealing, high ends. The result is a balanced tone with crisp and strong fundamentals.

MAHOGANY BACK & SIDES

The beloved mahogany wood has been a standard for back and sides on premium acoustics for many decades. The warm and well rounded low-end creates a basis for all music to reach it's audience. The mid-range is very strong and fullbodied, while the high-end is delicate and very pleasant.

BONE NUT & SADDLE

Bridge nuts & saddles made from bone are allot denser then their counterparts made from artificial materials like plastic, Micarta or Tusq. Bone nuts & saddles give a brighter more resonant tone with better attack, it will bring any guitar to life.
