With all things guitar related it’s personal preference on what works for you. There aren’t any rules, so experiment. The number one thing the guitar pick has to be is comfortable. If it doesn’t feel right between your fingers, it won’t do what it is you need it to do. That’s the whole point of a pick: to make what you’re trying to play easier.
